HOW IT ALL STARTED..
Books entered by chance in my life.. As they say, books are man's best friend s, they became my friends when i didn't have any. I go to a school which is so vibrant and the whole day goes by as a breeze. Coming back home, so charged, would see me wanting a channel to vent out this high energy level. A few sessions of badminton, dance classes could not hold me. I craved something else. Then one day in my school library period, I saw my classmate reading a novel. She started talking about it and had me captivated. I too borrowed a book from the same author and decided to try out. Well.. that was the last I remembered of that book and went on with my chores in school and at home, till my friend asked me about the book and when I gave her a 'duh' look, I earned a whack! So that evening fine evening, the book came out of my bag and despite Ma screaming at me for missing some class, I started the book. I didn't realize how fast the evening went by, I was transported into a different world! I had lost track of time.. That book made me want to read more!
Well, that was the start. Now, whatever the day has in store for me, it always ends with a book in my hand. It's as if the characters are waiting to meet me and tell me about their story. They have become a part of the integral part of my daily life. Just opening the book, and the crisp sound of the paper, the unique smell that every book gives, is ethereal! In this blog, I wish to extend my world by sharing what I read, my thoughts, my views with the world. Please do read and share your thoughts too with me.
Enjoy!
The Books Through My Eyes..
The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling- Harry Potter is an English series of seven fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The series chronicles the various adventures of a young wizard, Harry Potter, the titular character, and his friends Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry's quest to defeat the Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who aims to become immortal, conquer the wizarding world, subjugate non-magical people, and destroy all those who stand in his way, especially Harry Potter.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green- The author builds a story out of darkness and despair. He takes the tragedy of cancer and immerses us in the lives of characters that could very well be real. Many know of the heartaches in dealing with those who fight the fight, and many of those scars last a lifetime. He brings his story in the form of a teen girl, Hazel Grace Lancaster. stricken with cancer from a young age, she believes she has come to terms with what her life has become. Then she meets a young man, Augustus Waters, a survivor of cancer. He is drawn to her in a way that is initially uncomfortable, and as she tries to push him away in her sarcastic vein, he finds her to exactly the type of girl he has been looking for. A story of romance and anger, excitement and humor, and friendship and bravery for that the courage to bring both laughter and tears. The courage and humor, the energy and despair all keep you on a roller coaster of emotion. He takes you on a journey both terrible and beautiful. The story blasts away the veil of secrecy and hooks you from the very beginning.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins- Suzanne Collins' supposed young adult novel is well written and enjoyable. the concept is amazing and I'm jealous of Collins' for conceiving the idea. It's one of the few books you can call a page turner, and the characters are very interesting. The book was very well written, well expressed, crushingly suspenseful, with short and sharp sentences when describing things, but with very clear and interesting statements when it comes from Katniss' thoughts. When it comes to the action, it's never over. You may find in the first few chapters that the book is going nowhere, and Katniss' droning is a bit annoying, but you won't be disappointed when the truth really kicks in. Described emotions were sharp to my thoughts and the action was tense and riveting. Although the idea of the story may seem very garphic, the actual graphicness in the book keeps it short. In fact, there actually isn't much graphicness at all.
Divergent by Veronica Roth- Divergent is about a girl called Tris. She lives in a world which has a divided society. Tris fits in to not one but three of the societies, she is different. She is Divergent. She is forced to live a life she doesn't want. She wants to find where she belongs, so she leaves her family behind and ventures out alone. However, she finds herself in a brutal new life where she can trust nobody. Along this journey she becomes drawn to a boy who seemed dangerous but safe. The book was very intriguing from the very start to the end. The plot line was unique and kept me reading. Many people say it is just like The Hunger Games, but I have read and enjoyed both books and I can tell you they are very different. Divergent was based around many different aspects, but what I liked the most about this book was that it displayed not only the relationship that Tris had with Four, but it was also based on her friendship with the other characters and her family. I feel like other books are generally based around one relationship and don't really show the character's relationship with their friends and family as much as Divergent did, and that's what I think made Divergent a great book to read. Tris was a very strong character and it was very interesting to read about her because she had her own mind and did not follow rules. She was a very determined character which made it so much better to read. And to top it all off there was a bit of romance in the book, which made it even better to read.
